If you haven’t heard yet, we have collaborated with the Spangler Candy Company to once again create their historic and iconic Spangler Candy maple and vanilla peanut clusters in the Stella Leona Shop! Yes, those clusters! The clusters that were originally produced by Spangler in 1912!
We have recreated the original recipe that was first produced just over a century ago. It has been a wonderful collaboration and the clusters are proving to be wildly popular again! You can read more about our partnership and the clusters here.
While we suspected they would be a big hit, what we hadn’t anticipated were the memories and stories these clusters would reveal! We have loved hearing all about when you had your first original cluster, where you purchased them and how your parents and grandparents were big fans of the original clusters. It has been equally as fun to see new generations try the Spangler Clusters for the very first time!
We’ve enjoyed the stories so much that we want to hear more and capture them in writing on our blog! We are giving away 10 boxes of clusters. All you have to do is tell us about an old peanut cluster memory or leave a comment about trying these clusters for the very first time!
To enter, leave your comment on this blog post! Check back here on April 25th to see if you are one of the 10 random winners!
Thanks for sharing your stories with us!

My Dad bought these every Christmas to put in the candy dish my parents would put out on Christmas eve. I have tried these and they are exactly how I remember them. Maple is my favorite. I have others "hooked" on them now too!
ReplyDeleteMMMMMMMMMMMM YUM!
ReplyDeleteI bought some of these for my sister-in-law this year. She needs gluten free items and these fit the order. I didn't get the opportunity to try them though. So, I went back and bought some more for myself. After the first one, I hid the box!! I keep it hidden for my personal chocolate times!! Thanks for the best chocolate I've ever had!!
ReplyDeleteLove these! I hide these so I don't have to share with the kids.
ReplyDeleteI purchased some at Valentine's Day. They were as delicious as the chocolate I purchased in Germany Very very good.
ReplyDeleteMy great grandfather used to have these in a candy dish in his living room. He's long gone, but I have that candy dish. It would be nice to fill it with the 'good stuff' again.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother had this big candy dish every Christmas and it was filled with vanilla and maple clusters as well as some other kinds of candy - wasn't Christmas without this dish being passed no matter how full we were.
ReplyDeleteIt was always a huge treat when my mom would buy them at the grocery store. Love them...
ReplyDeleteThese look delicious!! I have never tried them, but would love to have them for the first time! :)
ReplyDeleteThere is noting better than a chocolate peanut cluster! I don't remember my first one, but my mother was a big chocolate fan and we had them many times.
ReplyDeleteI love all of Stella Leona chocolate. Peanut clusters are yummy--and I remember these from long ago!
ReplyDeleteMy father-n-law wanted me to purchase a box of the vanilla peanut clusters for his wife for Valentine's Day. He had read the article in the Blade and knew she would enjoy them because she loves her sweets and also because they had remembered these chocolates from the past. My father-n-law was battling cancer and this was the last gift he gave to his wife. She loved your peanut clusters and my husband and I promised to buy a box for her each year for Valentine's Day. Thank you Spanglers and Stella Leona for making a wonderful product and also a sweet memory.
ReplyDeleteLove the Peanut Clusters. So GOOD!
ReplyDeleteSo excited about these yummy clusters!
ReplyDeleteWell, and all things Stella Leona.

Sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteI love vanilla peanut clusters! Delicious!!!
ReplyDeleteI purchased several boxes for the office and they were wonderful. I remember going to Fishes five and dime in downtown Archbold to get them when I was growning up!
ReplyDeleteAlways a candy dish full of clusters at Christmas. Best memory....as akid could not figure out why there was a small fingernail mark on the bottom side of some of the vanilla clusters...years later found out that my dear mother did that while hunting for the maple ones. Have to admit it must be genetic as I love the maple ones too.
ReplyDeleteI remember so well as a young boy in the '60's... my dad would occasionally bring some of the peanut clusters home from Bryan, OH (where he traveled to his job, about 25 miles away). Loved them them, and can't wait to enjoy some again very soon (especially the maple ones!)
ReplyDeletethe clusters were always in our bags of candy that we received on Christmas eve at church after performing our Christmas eve program for the congregation. my sister would poke the bottoms in to see what flavors they were.
ReplyDeleteThey remind me so much of Christmas growing up. We would get an assortment of Spangler Chocolates and set them out to share...of course I would sneak a few extra for myself!

I bought some around the holidays...loved them. Can't wait to try some more!

Spangler's clusters were a Christmas treat growing up in the 60's! Now my grandkids love them.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I was just reminiscing this weekend about how my cousin and I would stand at the dime store candy counter as kids, and I always left with a little white bag of Spangler's vanilla peanut clusters! Later on, my husband would buy them for me at Christmas time and on other special occasions. How I have missed them! These peanut clusters are my all time favorite candy :)
ReplyDeleteI remember the clusters, gramma always had a milk-glass covered candy dish with them in whenever we visited. Can not wait to get some for my husband as peanut clusters are one of his very favorite things.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special treat, bringing back memories long forgotten. That's what a good chocolate will do.
ReplyDeleteSo excited -can not wait for the yummy maple ones. Always my favorite!!
ReplyDeleteYears (many really) ago I was the "candy girl" at Waldeck's 5 & 10 in Wauseon & sold peanuts clusters. And now I have the great pleasure of selling these same yummy clusters again at Stella Leona!
ReplyDeletechocolate and nuts, a wonderful match! the question will always be dark chocolate or milk chocolate?

ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful, as is all the items at Stella Leona's...I always brag to our big city friends about the uniqueness of small town businesses such as Stella Leona's. Have taken many chocolate treats to friends and they love it too!
ReplyDeleteWonderful childhood memories from the late 50's of going to town Saturday mornings with my mother to buy groceries and then getting some money so I could go to Fish's 5 & 10 by myself to get my little sack of vanilla peanut clusters. They were so good!! I would eat the peanuts first and save the vanilla cream for last. I have eaten many pounds since then and when I heard that you were making them I was so excited. I will definitely be stopping in for 'my little sack' again.
ReplyDeleteAt Christmas time, Peanut Clusters and Bittersweet Drops arrived at Heier's Farm Mkt near Miamisburg.... gravel parking; farm house next door; On the Saturday's before Christmas, my own 1lb Tiger full of Chocolatey goodness!
ReplyDeleteAwww... bummer. Just found out about your drawing. I will leave my memories, even though it's too late to be a winner.
ReplyDeleteI am from Michigan, but my dad worked in Bryan most of his life. It was a great treat to get to go into the dime store on the south side of the square and choose a couple of pieces of candy from the bulk display cases. I have always been partial to maple... so the maple peanut clusters were certainly my favorite.
As a senior in high school, I would go into the Spangler distribution store (behind Gorney-Winzler's) and again, those yummy clusters would get my attention.
Growing up, our church usually put a Spanglers cluster or a chocolate drop in each of the Christmas treat bags.
So you see.... Spangler's chocolates played a big part in my early life.
